The Statistics on the Failed War on Drugs

By Doug Newman
(Find me on Facebook.)

Mainstream “conservatives” insist that they oppose big government and that government cannot solve problems. However, they sure love their War on Drugs.

Recently, someone sent me a link to these statistics on the horrific failure that has been the War on Drugs. It is no different than any other unconstitutional big government program.

Also, the War on Drugs has turned the “land of the free” into the nation with the world’s highest incarceration rate. This trend was began an upward spike in 1971 when then-President Nixon proclaimed a “War on Drugs.”

In Colorado, in 2012, voters have a chance to affect a step away from this madness. Amendment 64 will legalize possession and use of small amounts of marijuana for people over the age of 21.

Vote YES on 64, Colorado! http://www.regulatemarijuana.org

Letter to the Editor – Colorado Ballot Initiatives

By Doug Newman

Open Forum
The Denver Post

When you step on the rights of others, don’t complain when other people try to step on your rights. I say this about one measure that is on the Colorado ballot this fall and another which may be on the ballot.

Coloradoans should vote YES on Amendment 64, which would legalize marijuana use for people over the age of 21 and tax it in a manner similar to alcohol. Marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol and its health benefits are extensively documented. While the psychoactive effects of marijuana last a few hours, the punishments for use or possession of marijuana can last a lifetime.

Ironically, some of the greatest opposition to Amendment 64 comes from “conservatives” who insist they believe individual liberty. If you would forbid others from consuming marijuana – either medically or recreationally – don’t complain when other people want to restrict your medical and other freedoms.

What if Snoop wanted to spend $1 million of his own money to promote a measure to legalize hemp in Colorado?

The second measure is the proposed Colorado Corporate Contributions Amendment. This amendment would instruct our congressional delegation to propose, and our state legislature to ratify, a constitutional amendment to limit campaign contributions and spending. Coloradoans should vote NO here.

Some corporations and wealthy people do wonderful things while others do rotten things. Many do some of both. When you limit their financial contributions you limit their ability to contribute to campaigns and causes you support. And when you restrict the political rights of others, don’t complain when other people want to restrict your political rights.

Rights either apply to everybody or they don’t apply to anybody. And when you curtail the rights of other people, just know that there are people who won’t hesitate for a minute to curtail your rights. What goes around comes around. You reap what you sow.

Family News in Focus

By Doug Newman

Clint Eastwood fathered 7 kids by 5 different women and carried on numerous extramarital affairs. Yet HE was a featured speaker at the convention for the GOP – i.e. God’s Official Party.

Adultery was a crime against humanity when Clinton did it. But it is “no big deal” when McCain, Gingrich, Julie Annie and Eastwood do it.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ron Paul, who has been faithfully married to the same woman for over 55 years was treated like the scum of the earth by Romney & Company.

If you like Romney, you ought to love Clinton and Obama.

ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!! … of Paraguay

By Doug Newman

America never tires of lecturing other countries on the need for fair elections. From the Iowa caucuses to the RNC in Tampa, the race for the Republican nomination resembled something straight out of some such country.

The fix was in from the start. The whole game was rigged in favor of the regime.  Heads: the welfare-warfare-police state won; tails: we the people lost.

This article spells out in great detail the tactics used by the Republican establishment and the mainstream media to deny Ron Paul any chance at all of winning the Republican nomination.

From the article.

As the smoke clears, rest assured this is not going to go over well with all those who were disenfranchised and left out in the cold, while the Republican establishment steals yet another election. Make no mistake about the fact that Ron Paul and all of his millions of supporters around the country are now likely to abstain from voting for Romney at all, even if that means losing the election to Obama. Although most are likely to turn their support in the direction of a Gary Johnson for instance, if Ron Paul ultimately decides not to run third-party.

If this is any indication of how Romney wants to govern America, then we are headed nowhere good.

And anyone who had a hand in getting Romney nominated – from the local precinct captain in Big Belch, Idaho to RNC Chairman Reince Preibus – deserves Obama!

“Pretend with me that you’re an old German on your deathbed today. Would you rather tell your grandchildren, ‘I voted for the Nazis because they seemed better than the Communists and no other party could win’? Wouldn’t you rather be able to rise up and say, ‘I publicly denounced the Nazis and the Communists? We were a minority – 1 or 2 percent – but we stood up for the truth and we were right! We proved not all Germans were mindless torchbearers for tyranny! We were ridiculed, we were beaten and jailed, but we saved this nation’s soul. Now children, go and live your lives in a way to make me proud’?” — Vin Suprynowicz

“When Christians entangle themselves with the kingdoms of the world,
they become worldly in the very worst way.” — Pastor Gregory Boyd

In every election, Christians are told that they have a duty to vote for the lesser of two “electable” evils.

There is nothing Christian about this.

Christians are not to choose between evils:

  • “Abhor that which is evil” – Romans 12:9
  • “Abstain from all appearance of evil” – I Thessalonians 5:22
  • “Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity” – Psalm 141:4
  • “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil” – Proverbs 8:13
  • “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” – Ephesians 5:11
  • “Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God, but he that doeth evil has not seen God.” – III John 11

But what if the only electable parties are evil? Christians are not to do things just because the majority of the secular world does them.

  • “Be not conformed to this world” – Romans 12:2
  • “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil” – Exodus 23:2
  • “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues” – Revelation 18:4

A few historical thoughts:

  • In Germany, in 1933, the two most “electable” parties were the Nazis and the Communists. For which of these did German Christians have a “civic duty” to vote?
  • In its first few centuries, Christianity was an outlaw religion and Christians were ruthlessly persecuted. Did they take sides in Rome’s politics? Did they get their undies in a bunch over every last secular political squabble? Did they hire attorneys from the Roman Center for Law and Justice every time some petty functionary said they couldn’t pray? No! They forged ahead and lived out their faith, very often in defiance of Roman law. And by relentlessly exhibiting the “fruit of the Spirit” – Galatians 5:22-23 – they spread the Gospel far and wide and Rome eventually fell.
  • While not all of the Founders were Christians, many were. Instead of taking sides in British politics, they appealed again and again for King George III to cease and desist from evil.  And when they had finally had enough, they said, far more eloquently than I ever will, “We don’t think so.” They then separated from Britain.

Jesus said that we shall know people “by their fruits“. To vote for Romney-Ryan as the “lesser of two evils” is to put your stamp of approval on, among other things:

  • Health care mandates
  • Oppressive taxation
  • Endless increases in spending
  • Unfathomable amounts of debt
  • Corporate bailouts
  • Stimulus packages
  • No end to any of the federal agencies that so many Christians insist that they hate
  • The Federal Reserve Bank
  • Gun control
  • The world’s highest incarceration rate
  • Locking people in rape cages for years for healing themselves with a plant that God gave us in Genesis 1:11
  • Warrantless searches and spying
  • Sexual assault as a condition of travel
  • Rampant police brutality
  • Indefinite detention without due process
  • “Homeland Security”
  • Membership in the United Nations
  • Biometric national ID cards
  • Surveillance drones in the skies recording our every move
  • Predator drone strikes all over the Muslim world
  • Torture
  • Trade sanctions and embargoes and the death and starvation they bring
  • Unprovoked, undeclared, unconstitutional war and the murder of innocents (1)
  • No end to the abortion holocaust

Have you ever noticed that the most bloodthirsty warmongers in America are often the same people that absolutely INSIST that they are “pro-life”? Is it any wonder that God has allowed an Obama presidency? See Daniel 2:21.

Is this what Christians should promote? Is there anything here whatsoever that is Christlike? Does any of this reflect the fruit of the Holy Spirit? Shall we trade our birthright for a mess of political pottage? What shall it profit us if we gain the White House and lose our souls?

As Christians, our call is to serve from the bottom up rather than rule from the top down. We need to remember that our citizenship is in heaven and that our King rules over a kingdom that is “not of this world.” More than anything else, we need to look long and hard in the mirror, examine our own sins and hit our knees in repentance.

We need to fear God’s Judgment far more than we fear a second term of Obama.

(1) In the Great Commission, Jesus tells His followers to take the Gospel to “all nations”, including those your government doesn’t like. He never says, “wave the flag and rejoice as your military bombs the smack out of ______ and kills thousands of innocents.”

Google Brandon Raub! Free Brandon Raub!

By Doug Newman

I got on the internet in 1996 and have been a blogger since early 1997. All this time, I have been fully aware l whatever I say can be read by someone somewhere who might not approve.

I can approach this one of two ways: either cower in fear of Big Brother, or use the most powerful educational tool the world has ever seen to, in the words of John F. Kennedy, “inform, to arouse, to reflect, to state our dangers and our opportunities, to indicate our crises and our choices, to lead, mold, educate and sometimes even anger public opinion.”

Yesterday, Brandon Raub, who had served two combat tours with the Marines, was sentenced – without a trial – to 30 days in a Virginia psychiatric hospital over some anti-government Facebook remarks. This is taken from a page in Leonid Brezhnev’s playbook.

Some folks are responding to this saying, “Get off of Facebook!”

If this is the case, why not just get off the web altogether? Something doesn’t have to be on Facebook to raise the eyebrows of the authorities.

Now is the time to play offense, not defense. Now is the worst possible time to tuck tail and run. In the words of the abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison: “I will not equivocate — I will not excuse — I will not retreat a single inch — and I will be heard.”

If Brandon Raub can be sentenced without trial to a psychiatric hospital for exercising his rights, why can’t you?

Google Brandon Raub.

Why Does Ron Paul Insist on a Declaration of War?

By Doug Newman
Follow me on Facebook.
Posted at Daily Paul.

Ron Paul has always insisted on a declaration of war as opposed to an “authorization for the use of military force”. For those of you who are – like I was – a little confused about this issue, here is a short yet excellent article explaining this distinction.

70 percent of presidential campaign donations from active duty military personnel went to Ron Paul.

Why I Won’t Take Part in “National Tell a Police Officer ‘Thank You!” Day”

By Doug Newman

I recently received an invitation to support something called “National Tell a Police Officer ‘Thank You!’ Day”. I wrote the following to the person who invited me.
———————————————————————————

I declined the invite and I want to explain why. I am thankful when police officers apprehend truly guilty violent criminals. However, I will not thank them simply for being cops.

In recent years, the police have all too often been out-of-control raving tyrants. Police brutality has been rampant in America. More and more, they are acting like an occupying Army.

Have a look at the group below, which was started by a West Point grad and Iraq/Kosovo veteran who is facing possible prison time for taking pictures of an Austin TX cop manhandling a young girl early on New Year’s Day. https://www.facebook.com/groups/350955711587953/ Also have a look at http://www.peacefulstreets.com

James Moore in the hospital after the savage beating by the Denver Police in 2008.

Have a look at this group started by a friend of mine – an Afghanistan vet – who was beaten to the point of flatlining by the Denver PD in 2008. https://www.facebook.com/JusticeforJamesMoore

Have a look at this very eloquent blog that deals extensively with rogue police. http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/

And do you not know what happened (in Aurora, Colorado, near where I live) on 6/2/12? https://foodforthethinkers.com/2012/06/07/cops-gone-wild-obama-gone-wild-hitler-gone-wild/

Thank these cops for what?

When the police do their job, i.e. apprehending violent criminals, they perform a noble service. When they step over this line, they become extremely dangerous. Like any agency of the government, they need to be kept under a very watchful eye and on an extremely short leash.

Thank you for reading.

Respectfully,

Doug Newman

Please help these three dogs find a home!

I received an email the other day from a friend that told a very sad story. If you can help, please email me with your contact information, and I will forward this information onward. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I am sending this out to all of you who I know love dogs in the hope that you may know someone who might be interested in giving one of these dogs a home.

There is a very sweet woman who lives in Elizabeth.*  She lost her job several months ago and she is trying to sell her home before it is foreclosed which I understand will be happening pretty soon.  She is very distraught about having to find homes for her older dogs; it is truly tearing her apart.

All these dogs have been rescued by her.  She has Brynne, an 8 year old female Beagle, Ellie, a 10 year old black lab, and Jenna, an 11 year old shepherd mix.  They have all been receiving excellent veterinary care and are up to date on shots.  All are spayed.  Their photos are attached.

If you know anyone who might be interested please pass this along.

Thank you so much.
——————————————————————————————————————————
* Elizabeth is a small town in Elbert County, Colorado. It is 40 miles southeast of Denver.
—————————————————————————————————————————–

This is Jenna.

Jenna needs a new home.

Brynne needs a new home.

This is Bella.

Bella needs a new home.

Again, if you can help find a home for these doggies, please email me with your contact information and I will forward it onward to people who can help. Thanks!
