Trump’s Deportation Plan Will Mean One Arrest Every 5.7 Seconds

The Constitution of the United States is a law for rulers and people, equally in war and in peace, and covers with the shield of its protection all classes of men, at all times, and under all circumstances. No doctrine, involving more pernicious consequences, was ever invented by the wit of man than that any of its provisions can be suspended during any of the great exigencies of government. Such a doctrine leads directly to anarchy or despotism. — Supreme Court Justice David Davis, Ex Parte Milligan (1866)

Conservatives are a lot like the liberals they claim to diametrically oppose: they are in total denial about the real world implications of their favorite government programs.

Consider, for just a few minutes, what Donald Trump’s plan to round up and deport 11 million illegal immigrants in 2 years would look like in real life. It ought to scare the crap out of just about anybody.

Let’s do the math. Deporting 11 million illegal aliens in 2 years – or 730 days – would mean arresting 15,068 per day every day, which equals 628 every hour, which equals 10.46 every minute, which equals one every 5.7 seconds.

And a president could not do this without approval from both houses of congress and due process through the courts. The Bill of Rights does not distinguish between citizens and non-citizens. Its protections apply equally to both. If they do not protect Julio, the accused illegal alien in the Rio Grande Valley, they do not protect you either. They apply regardless of accusation or any particular political climate. They apply to everyone or they don’t apply to anyone.

To deny due process – to assume that we can just accuse, arrest and deport people – is to make an unspeakably dangerous and – I’ll just say it – STUPID assumption. It requires assuming that government officials – or at least those officials that you like – are always right and would never ever overstep their bounds.

Conservatives insist that they hate and distrust the government. Yet too many of them actually place total blind unthinking trust in certain segments of the government.

trump sanders kimjongun

Trump says he can go around the courts here. Presidents of constitutional republics cannot go around the courts. Tyrants, despots and dictators disregard the legislative and judicial branches of government.

To assume that Trump’s deportation plan won’t happen without widespread reckless violations of everyone’s civil liberties is just as naïve and – I’ll just say it again – STUPID as assuming that Obama was going to give us all free healthcare or that Bernie Sanders is going to give us anything for free.

Is that what Trump supporters want? The fact that so many people have placed blind unthinking trust in an aspiring tyrant like Trump is even scarier than his deportation plan.

Trump is a profoundly dangerous man – more so than any other candidate. And that is saying something. Whether he stays in the Republican Party or makes an independent or third party run, he must be stopped.

And, if elected, he must be resisted.

The Big Fat Republican supreme Court Lie

By Doug Newman – email me here.
Here I am on Facebook.
If you would like to post this elsewhere, please just post this hyperlink as I update my articles somewhat frequently. Thanks!

Will John Roberts’ supreme Court confirmation process be a slam dunk? Or will it be nasty, brutish and excruciatingly long, replete with lurid exposes of his undergraduate escapades and video rental records?

twain fool peopleNo matter what happens, do not get too jazzed about Mr. Roberts. If the Republican Party’s history of judicial nominations is any indicator, he will be a disaster. How do I know this? Let me explain.

The Bush spin machine tells us that We Must Vote Republican And Stand Behind President Bush And His Judicial Nominees Because If We Don’t Evil Diabolical Scum Of The Earth Liberal Democrats Will Put Their Activist Judges On The Federal Bench And These Judges Will Perpetuate Judicial Tyranny By Waging A Jihad Against America, Our Christian Heritage And Values, Motherhood, Norman Rockwell, Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie And Chevrolet By Legislating From The Bench And Imposing Their Radical, Morally Bankrupt, God-Hating, Perverted Secular Agenda On The American People.

THE HORROR! THE UNSPEAKABLE ABJECT HORROR!

Get a grip! Let’s get past the clichés and look at the history of nominations to the federal bench over the last few decades.

For 22 of the 24 years since Ronald Reagan took office we have had Republican presidents and/or Senate majorities. For six of Bill Clinton’s eight years in office, his judicial nominees had to pass muster with a Republican Senate majority. Sixty percent of current federal judges were nominated by Republican presidents. Seven of the nine current supreme Court justices were nominated by Republicans.

And we still have a rogue judiciary! Everything Republicans say they hate is still part of our legal, judicial and cultural landscape. We still have endless mind numbing decisions on things like school prayer, public displays of Christianity and the Pledge of Allegiance. Roe v. Wade is still very much with us and is unlikely to go away any time soon.

Did you know that five of the seven justices who voted “yes” on Roe were appointed by Republicans? Someone pointed this out to me recently and I thought I would do my own research. It turns out that Justices Brennan and Stewart were Eisenhower appointees, while Justices Burger, Blackmun and Powell were Nixon appointees.

So there you have it. Roe is not part of the godless Democratic legacy. It is part of the legacy of the GOP, which many GOP types want us to think is an acronym for God’s official party.

But if you support the Libertarian or the Constitution Party, you only aid and abet Democrats! I mean, would you rather have Al Gore or John Kerry picking judges?

supreme court memeHas it mattered? Has it really mattered one iota? Not only have Republicans perpetuated Roosevelt’s socialist legacy and Wilson’s internationalist legacy, they have continued to nominate judges and justices indistinguishable from those that any Democrat would nominate.

All anybody really seems to know about John Roberts is that nobody really seems to know anything about him. Oh sure, he went to Harvard and was in private practice in Washington for some years before becoming a circuit judge. But that is about it.

The coming weeks will bring the predictable excursions into the mind and soul of Mr. Roberts. Network talking heads will conduct endless highfalutin interviews with law professors and representatives of all the usual big money pressure groups about Mr. Roberts’ judicial “temperament” and philosophy. It is so lobotomizing.

In 2000, Harry Browne wrote:

“The Constitution isn’t written in Chinese, Swahili, or Esperanto. It is in plain English. We don’t need anyone to translate or interpret for us. It isn’t even necessary to study the history of the adoption of the Constitution, since there’s nothing mysterious about its words.

”Phrases like ‘make no law’ or ‘shall not be infringed’ or ‘retained by the people’ or ‘reserved to’ are comprised of everyday words that require no search for ‘original intent’ or ‘penumbras.’”

It must be nice to be a federal judge. Imagine having the luxury of searching for deeper meanings of words that have no deeper meaning. I wish that I, a common citizen, had the luxury of “interpreting” laws and probing for their “original intent.”

“But, officer, was it really the original intent of the city council that the stop sign really meant for me to stop my car at that corner? Or might there be a deeper meaning hidden in the stop sign’s penumbras?”

Bad citizen. No donut.

To paraphrase Leona Helmsley, only little people need abide by the letter of the law.

Browne goes on to state:

“The Constitution means what it says it means — or it means nothing at all. And any judge who overrules the plain English of the Constitution is no judge at all — whether he’s been appointed by a Republican or a Democrat.”

As Rush Limbaugh says, words mean things. The words of the Constitution are no exception. Limbaugh and his ilk got much mileage out of Bill Clinton’s uncertainty as to the meaning of words like “alone” and “is.” They should invest similar energy on the confusion of supreme Court justices over the meaning of the words in the Constitution.

Consider the wording of the Tenth Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

If the Constitution does not authorize Uncle Sam to engage in a certain activity – those activities are spelled out in Article I, Section 8 – Uncle Sam cannot engage in it. Sahh-reee. There is, for example, no constitutional authorization for either a war on drugs or federal intrusion into the medical marketplace. Period.

So why, then, do apparently educated people give us insane – and, I maintain, godless – opinions like Gonzales v. Raich? In this case, the Court upheld the supremacy of federal laws prohibiting the use of medical marijuana over state laws permitting its use.

Credit: mmsdhyeyp4.weebly.com

The Court relied on the Supremacy Clause in Article VI saying that the federal law superseded the state laws. The problem is that there is exactly zero constitutional authorization for such a federal law. It simply is not there! If the Court can resort to the Supremacy Clause whenever it wants, while ignoring other constitutional provisions it finds inconvenient, we might as well just perforate the Constitution and put it on a roll.

Four of the six justices in the majority on this ruling – Scalia, Stevens, Kennedy and Souter – were Republican appointees.

So there you have it again. Republican appointees disregard the words of the Constitution just as recklessly as Democratic appointees. Any claim to Republican intellectual or moral superiority over Democrats is part of the big, fat Republican supreme Court lie. Don’t fall for it!

America’s true constitution lies not on paper. It lies in the minds and hearts of its people. If the American people are ignorant about their freedom, unwilling to defend their freedom, and willing to sacrifice this freedom for temporal political gain, can they be said to have a constitution at all?

North Korea: Conservative Paradise

By Les Riley – originally posted here – please do not re-post without linking here.

Great news!
I have found a place where they have:
— A strong military that is revered by all and given the central place in the government’s planning & budget.
— An understanding that immigration is a threat to both national security and the nation’s culture. They have effectively controlled the border and have security measures in place to the degree that they have a homogenous culture and a pure ethnicity.
— They are tough on crime and don’t put up with thugs, rabble rousers, dissidents or the like.
A very much “law and order” place where they lock up or quickly execute criminals
— Where disrespect for the police is not tolerated
— Where disrespect for the nation or its flag is not tolerated
— Where they have a “strong leader”
— Where they don’t have any GMO crops and where most of the food is grown by peasant farmers using natural and old fashioned methods

Where is this paradise?
Why NORTH KOREA of course.
(A number of Middle Eastern and other hell-on-earth dictatorships have many of these characteristics, too).

Sadly, there are many who consider themselves patriotic and conservative and who will blather about liberty & free markets when Democrats are proposing or enacting unconstitutional programs who then turn around and support politicians and ideas that would take our country in the direction of Kim Jong-un’s prison nation nightmare of North Korea.

Trump Commended ChiComs for Putting Down Tiananmen Rebellion

He said just this in a 1990 interview with Playboy.

What were your other impressions of the Soviet Union?

I was very unimpressed. Their system is a disaster. What you will see there soon is a revolution; the signs are all there with the demonstrations and picketing. Russia is out of control and the leadership knows it. That’s my problem with Gorbachev. Not a firm enough hand.

You mean firm hand as in China?

When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak … as being spit on by the rest of the world–
Why is Gorbachev not firm enough?
I predict he will be overthrown, because he has shown extraordinary weakness. Suddenly, for the first time ever, there are coal-miner strikes and brush fires everywhere- which will all ultimately lead to a violent revolution. Yet Gorbachev is getting credit for being a wonderful leader and we should continue giving him credit, because he’s destroying the Soviet Union. But his giving an inch is going to end up costing him and all his friends what they most cherish-their jobs.

No One Knows How Many Laws There Are

From the article:

“There are at least 5,000 federal criminal laws, with 10,000-300,000 regulations that can be enforced criminally. In fact, our entire criminal code has become a leviathan unto itself. In 2003, there were only 4,000 offences that carried criminal penalties. By 2013, that number had grown by 21 percent to 4,850. The code has become so big, that the Congressional Research Service and the American Bar Association simply do not have enough staff to adequately categorize every law we have on the books.”

America: 240 Years of History and 219 Years of War

From the article:

In truth, the United States of America has been engaged in some kind of war during 218 out of the nation’s total 239 years of existence. Put another way, in the entire span of US history, this country has only experienced 21 years without conflict. For a sense of perspective on this sobering statistic, consider these 4 facts about the history of US involvement in military conflict:

  • Pick any year since 1776 and there is about a 91% chance that America was involved in some war during that calendar year.
  • No U.S. president truly qualifies as a peacetime president.  Instead, all U.S. presidents can technically be considered “war presidents.”
  • The U.S. has never gone a decade without war.
  • The only time the U.S. went five years without war (1935-40) was during the isolationist period of the Great Depression.

The Constitutional Convention Con Job … or the ConConCon

No Constitution is self-enforcing. Not even the U.S. Constitution.

The current Constitution has not “failed to rein in government.” Rather, we the people have been derelict in our duty hold our government within its constitutionally prescribed limits. The rank-and-file right is every bit as guilty as the rank-and-file left.

If TPTB will treat our current Constitution as a mere inconvenience, why should anyone think TPTB will have any respect for a new constitution?

Here is a great article on why the proposed Article V Convention is a complete con.
