How Did Jesus Instruct His Followers to “Deal with” Islam?

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. – Matthew 28:18-20

By all nations, He meant just that: ALL nations. Even those nations with which your country may be at war or intending to start a war. All means all … that’s all all means!

He never told us to hate.

He never told us to fear.

He never told us to enter the who-can-be-the-most-pluperfect-jerk-on-Facebook contest.

He never told us to build border walls.

He never told us to round up and expel entire groups of people.

He never told us to restrict travel.

He never told us to torture.

He never told us to spy.

He never told us to presume people guilty.

He never told us to close houses of worship.

He never told us to ban non-Christian religions.

He never told us to lock people in cages for years without trial.

He never told us to implement trade sanctions and embargoes.

He never told us to kill the relatives of criminals.

He never told us to proclaim our country “exceptional”.

He never told us to invade defenseless countries that have done nothing to harm us and kill thousands of innocents.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. – Matthew 24:35

As for me, I hang my hope on the ETERNAL words of Jesus rather than the temporal rantings of the screaming meemees in politics, the press and, tragically, far too many pulpits.

About Food for the Thinkers

My name is Doug Newman. I live in Aurora, Colorado, just outside Denver. Food for the Thinkers is mostly about the connection between Christianity and libertarianism. Most Christians do not understand libertarianism. And most libertarians do not understand Christianity. Hopefully, this blog helps clear up those misunderstanding. Check out my old page at www.thefot.us And remember: When you let people do whatever they want, you get Woodstock. But when you let governments do whatever they want, you get Auschwitz.
