Denver police accused of excessive force, illegal search

I filmed an arrest in southwest Denver in late April of this year. One of the cops politely asked for my cell phone and I politely declined. Thank God it was that cop and not one of these.

DENVER — FOX31 Denver has obtained video of a Denver police officer punching an unarmed suspect in the face six times, then moments later, tripping the man’s seven-and-a-half-months pregnant girlfriend.

A witness who recorded the August arrest on his Samsung Tablet tells Investigative Reporter Chris Halsne police not only seized the videotape over his objections, but when they returned it to him, the file was missing.

With the help of an electronic cloud, the witness recovered the 55 second video clip and provided a limited-use copy to FOX31 Denver for its investigation.

Undercover Drug Arrest Leads to a Struggle

Police and witnesses agree on at least one thing: When a suspected drug user saw Denver undercover narcotics officers approaching his vehicle at West 5th Avenue and Federal Boulevard on August 14, he stuffed a white sweat sock in his mouth.
