Ferguson: If It Were Only About Race

This is my response to someone on Facebook who blamed the Ferguson riots on black hopelessness.

“So who are they venting their rage against: rich white people in the suburbs or other blacks in the ghetto? And why were they not storming police HQ right from the get go? After all, it was a cop, and not some shopkeeper, who shot Michael Brown. And if social injustice – which very much exists in America – is to blame, why are there not constant riots in places like Detroit, Camden, and Compton? And this is not the first episode of white police brutality against black people. And something like 99+% of black folks in Ferguson and the surrounding areas did not partake in any of the looting. And why could the cops not arrest any looters last week, but all of a sudden impose what might as well be called martial law? And why were the people who were actually defending the shops other black people from the neighborhood?”

About Food for the Thinkers

My name is Doug Newman. I live in Aurora, Colorado, just outside Denver. Food for the Thinkers is mostly about the connection between Christianity and libertarianism. Most Christians do not understand libertarianism. And most libertarians do not understand Christianity. Hopefully, this blog helps clear up those misunderstanding. Check out my old page at www.thefot.us And remember: When you let people do whatever they want, you get Woodstock. But when you let governments do whatever they want, you get Auschwitz.

Well said. This is a backlash all Americans should be comprehending and not just to sit comfortably on their laurels in front of the TV, or bemoaning the State of the Union while it burns to the ground- set on fire by the fires of hell, but speaking out Truth to others.
