Editor:

If I were a congressman, I would vote “yes” on defunding both Planned Parenthood as well as Obamacare. But I would do so unenthusiastically.

Such gestures are nothing more than partisan grandstanding. Republicans know that Obama would veto either bill. And after such measures fail, the Republican majorities in both houses will go back to business as usual and continue to fund things they claim they passionately hate. If Republicans seriously wanted to defund Planned Parenthood and Obamacare, they would vote “no” on every bill that contained one penny of funding for either of them.

I will give Democrats this: they are honest about their belief in four-dimensional government. Republicans campaign like libertarians, but once they are elected they govern like Democrats. They have done so for decades. They always leave government bigger, uglier, costlier and more intrusive that they found it.

There is no “lesser evil” in Washington.

Who’s the Big Enemy Right Now?

I have an old friend who retired from a Lockheed Martin about 10 years ago. He says that, if he had to do it again, he would have gone into civilian electronics in late 1991, after Gorbachev was ousted from power.

He remembers asking again and again during the 1990s: the Soviets are gone, why are they coming after us with all these huge projects? Who is the big enemy now?

As H.L. Mencken once put it: “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed — and thus clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

To quote the Dire Straits tune “Industrial Disease”: “They wanna have a war to keep us on our knees. They wanna have a war to keep their factories.”

Our overlords are always dreaming up new enemies. There’s big money in it. And what better way to control people than to keep them perpetually in fear over totally imaginary threats.

Great article by Michael Rozeff.

If We Were Free: 100 Things That Would Be Different

By Joshua Joscelyn

I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.” –Harriet Tubman

Every July 4th, Americans partake in a rather confusing and disturbing exercise in denial. Big and small, black and white, rich and poor, liberal and conservative, the overwhelming majority of Americans take a day off from the job they spend 40-60 hours a week at, bring together the family they never otherwise spend time with, fire up the grill at a home they probably owe thousands of dollars on, just three months after they sent up to half of their income to the government, and spend the day congratulating each other on how free they are.  Read full Facebook note here.

On Losing a Dog

Will (MarkingOurTerritory.com)'s avatarMarking Our Territory

3.1

In his grief over the loss of a dog, a little boy stands for the first time on tiptoe, peering into the rueful morrow of manhood. After this most inconsolable of sorrows there is nothing life can do to him that he will not be able somehow to bear. – James Thurber

In July of 2004, my brother James held Dutch, his German Shorthaired Pointer, for the first time. On November 20, 2014, James held Dutch for the last time. After ten incredible years Dutch succumbed to the ravaging effects of hemangiosarcoma, a deadly and unfortunately common cancer in dogs.

Ten years, that’s the deal. The lucky get more time, far too many get less. But we all must inevitably face the end. That end – the only end – is heartbreak. When Dutch died I held James and we cried. I wasted no breath on neat and impotent words. James…

The Supreme Court Just Gave American Evangelicals a Gift

“We have been given a gift: The Supreme Court ruling means we can stop throwing our time and money into fighting same sex marriage and fulfill the words of Matthew 25.”

supreme-court-same-sex-marriage

Evangelicals are tenacious, persistent, and driven when they want to fight for a cause. The problem is that American evangelicals have been swept up in fighting for the wrong cause for a long time.

When the Supreme Court ruled to make same sex marriage the law of the land, American evangelicals received a gift that many don’t want: official permission to fight for people in need instead of fighting against same sex marriage.

Whatever you believe about same sex marriage, the role of government, and the future of the church in America, disagreeing with same sex marriage on moral grounds does not demand a public campaign to prevent it from becoming legally sanctioned. While I remain committed to creating room for affirming and non-affirming evangelicals who unite under the common banner of saving faith in Christ, evangelicals in America should have never made legalized same sex marriage a central moral…

Fifteen Questions that Are Being asked about the Charleston Shooting

DON’T believe every conspiracy theory you read.
DON’T believe everything the MSM tells you.
Do your own research. Use your brain!

James Perloff's avatarJames Perloff

DISCLAIMER: I was not in Charleston and did not witness the event. I am not asserting that Dylann Roof did not commit the crime attributed to him. If the tragedy occurred just as the media has said, my heart goes out to the victims’ families, and nothing here is intended to disparage the memory of the dead.

However, those who realize America has long been run by a shadow oligarchy know our country has experienced many false flags. Some have been used to attempt to bring us into wars, such as the sinking of the Maine, the sinking of the Lusitania, the foreknown attack on Pearl Harbor, the artificially contrived Korean War, the Tonkin Gulf-induced Vietnam War, the attack on the USS Liberty, 9/11, and the various pretexts used for multiple Middle Eastern wars that General Wesley Clark says were foretold to him…

Are Today’s Youth Any Worse Than YOU Were?

I graduated from HS in NJ in 1979 and we used to have RAAAAAAAAAAGING beer & weed parties all the time. It was a small town where everyone was at most 2 degrees of separation from everyone else. News traveled fast. And the cops almost never showed up. Indeed, “local cops” came before “cherry tops” in Springsteen’s “Jungle Land”. The thuggery displayed by these cops here was absolutely unthinkable.

Lots of great points here.

Health Insurance is Illegal

From the article: “Some imagine that prior to Obamacare, we had a free-market health insurance system, but the system was already severely hobbled by restrictions.”

America has not had anything close to a free market in healthcare in the last several decades. Every administration messes things up even further than the preceding one. The best possible approach – please notice that I did NOT say “solution” – is the separation of health and state.
