As much as I did not want to go here on Easter Sunday, I could not remain silent.
The saddest part about the Trump-MAGA movement is that so many millions of professing Christians will ABSOLUTELY NEVER call him out on anything. This is an absolute credibility KILLER.
There’s no fruit of the Holy Spirit here. There’s only arrogance, hubris, anger, belligerence, vengefulness, childishness, vulgarity, cruelty, ugliness of spirit, and vile disregard for the inherent human dignity of anyone Trump tells us to hate and fear.
The secular world is watching, and it is very right to call out this hypocrisy. The Bible says one thing, but Trump’s words and deeds say the opposite. And millions of Christians will heap endless praise and adulation upon him.
To quote Gandhi, “I like your Christ. But I do not like your Christians as they are so unlike your Christ.”
What shall it profit the church if we gain the world but lose our souls? So, the Religious Right got their guy in the White House. Bow-wow-wow-yippee-yo-yippee-yay.
In the last 2 verses of Matthew, the risen Jesus says the following: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
He doesn’t tell them – or us – to fear or hate any country, let alone sanction, embargo, demolish, devastate, obliterate, annihilate, or bomb any country into oblivion.
So many Christians lament that Christianity is losing its influence over our culture. What should we expect when the example so many of us set runs contrary to the teachings of Jesus? When the salt loses its savor, it becomes good for nothing other than to be thrown out and trampled upon.
We are called to be the light to a fallen, broken, weary world, and to build a kingdom that is “not of this world”. We have such a wonderful, glorious, beautiful, hope-filled message not just for this life but more importantly for the hereafter.
And what have we done with it?
It reminds me of Esau. So have sold their birthright for a bowl of political soup.
B-b-b-but THE LEFT! Yes, I get it.
We need to fear God’s Judgment far more than … ERMUHGERD … the left.
And as I Peter 4:17 tells us, that Judgment begins not at the abortion mill or the strip club or … ERMUHGERD … DNC headquarters, but at the house of God.
